UK Labour and the Poll Tax

Apparently, the Labour in UK has decided that the best way to keep the leadership out of touch with the masses is through a poll tax.  This poses a marked contrast to the events of 1990, when the poll tax was supposedly the singular contributor to the intraparty coup against Margaret Thatcher, by showing that the leadership was out of touch.  The more things change, indeed.
