is that this is a repeat of 1992, he has the same job as Bill Clinton did, but he is a Ross Perot instead.
Like Bill Clinton, Trump represents a major party whose elites don’t trust him, faces a de facto incumbent who is a terrible candidate, who, in fact, just faced a major revolt from her own party, and Trump’s potential path to victory goes through winning trust of the working class white voters. But, while Bill Clinton was a skilled, if manipulative and deceptive politician, Trump is a eccentric nutjob billionaire with excellent TV presence but a lot of other issues (like Ross Perot). Would the Democrats have won in 1992 if they had nominated Perot instead of Clinton (not that it was a possibility at all)? I guess we will find out.
